Stand up for humanity
While many cities make public spaces uncomfortable for homeless people, the mayor of Dornbirn did the opposite.
Some benches in the city were changed so people couldn’t lie down on them—something many places do to keep unhoused people away.
But Mayor Peter Tschentscher said no. He asked to undo the changes, saying public spaces should be for everyone, not just for those who “fit in.”
It’s a small act, but it sends an important message:
instead of pushing poor people away, cities can choose kindness and respect.

Green start-ups are growing fast in Germany. One in five new businesses is now focused on sustainability — and among high-growth start-ups, it's nearly one in three. These companies make a big impact, saving around 30,000 tons of CO₂e each year — worth millions in emissions trading.
Women are also more likely to be in leadership roles in green start-ups than in others.
Support programs like EXIST and HTGF back them strongly, even without extra environmental bonuses.
Investors are paying more attention to climate-friendly business ideas.
Many of these start-ups use AI, but a large number also consider its energy use and environmental effects.
North Rhine-Westphalia gets top marks for supporting start-ups, while Berlin remains the leading hub for green entrepreneurship.

A new fund, the "Cali Fund," was created. Companies that make money from using genetic information now have to share part of their profits with the countries those resources come from.
Half of the money will go to Indigenous people and local communities. Their role in protecting nature is now seen as even more important.
Countries also made two big decisions:
They made a plan to raise money from different sources to support global nature goals.
They set up a system to check if countries are really doing what they promised.
This new system will help track progress on 23 nature goals and 4 big targets around the world.
