History was written by the powerful. It has never been neutral.
Let’s reclaim the power for ourselves.

Jull

Have you heard about...

People who dedicated their lives to a purpose—who spent decades working toward a goal, only to have it taken from them.? No?

So..Then take a deep breath..

Here, I’ll write more about them—their stories, their paths, and how history keeps repeating itself. How people are stripped of their work and recognition because of their background, gender, and more.

The Matilda - Effect

In 1870 wrote the American women's rights activist Matilda Joslyn Gage about how women’s achievements were often ignored or dismissed. She showed how strongly this unfair treatment—especially in science—was connected to gender and how it had become a serious problem.

The Lack of Recognition

Some may know about Cecil Powell,
but do you know about
Marietta Blau?

Marietta Blau was an Austrian nuclear physicist whose pioneering work in particle detection using photographic emulsions laid essential groundwork for modern particle physics.

Her methods were later adopted and further developed by Cecil Powell, who used them to detect pions—a breakthrough that earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1950

Despite the fact that Powell's success heavily relied on Blau's innovations, she was largely excluded from the recognition and acclaim.

Here we can see the typical 'Matilda-Effect'.

Okay - WHAT?

Alright, let’s break this down. HE built his work on HERS, made a breakthrough, and even received a Nobel Prize for it. And her? She was dismissed, left in the waiting room—or no, actually, pushed back down into the basement no one seemed willing to enter. How is something like this possible? The answer lies in our everyday lives, our politics, our society. It is the power of men. It is—and has been—the patriarchy.

What to do now?

We can't change history. We can't undo what has happened.
But we can tell their stories.
We can use what we know to do better.
We can choose a different path—and create a better future.
Let's begin.

To be continued. -xoxo
